Have to agree, a freshly made jam donut, or sugar and cinnamon, an irresistible treat.

And I honestly can't imagine using another recipe now I've landed in this one. So lovely.

I need occasional treats, including a doughnut, jelly doughnut, or whatever. I limit portions or frequency. Life is short. Eat the peach.

Thanks a lot.

I had been thinking I’d fast til 1 or 2pm today.

But now I’ve seen that image of fresh sweet goodness.

Damn…

Life is all about balance. I'm trying to take that on board a bit better.

I resonate with so much of this piece. In my early twenties I had that “nothing tastes as good as skinny feels” quote PRINTED and stuck to my fridge. I shudder at the memory.

I still constantly struggle with that decades old self-inflicted shame. I also think about this all the time now that I’m a mom. Trying to live by example that we can celebrate the things that make life worth living while taking care of ourselves. And it all starts with being a little kinder and more forgiving to ourselves.

Thank you for the beautiful words! Can’t wait to try the recipe! 🍩

Thank you for this. I really do agree. That sentence is a dreadful sentence, glad we can both move past it. Hope the recipe works well for you. I think it's a winner.

It's Saturday evening and I have the dough resting on the bench for its initial rise. It'll rest in the fridge overnight and I'm looking forward to doughnuts for breakfast.

Thank you for this recipe and sharing your food relationship story. Mine was overindulged until my teen years, then more about body image, but still dysfunctional until I reached my mid 20s, when I took responsibility for my health (and ok, to get skinny). That pushed me too far the other way, with a fat phobia and exercise addiction. Thankfully, I met a wonderful man who distracted me from my hangups, loved me for me, and so my positive relationship with food began. I love to cook, to eat, to share the love that those two things combined bring to our table, and our family life. :)

I'm so glad to hear this. Well done to you. These things aren't easy to improve and I'm glad, as I do, you have a supportive partner to help. I really hope the recipe works for you as it does for me in my kitchen. Let me know if you have any issues. You deserve these doughnuts to be perfect!!!

Light and fluffy, as promised. Sunday morning deliciousness. I had one with raspberry jam and the second with homemade lemon curd. I love the buttery sweet citrus tang!

Gorgeous work, Wil. Including the doughnuts. I wrote a slim book about fat a few years back. If you'd like a copy, DM me an address to which I might send it.
