"Probably I just haven’t the imagination to write about anything made up"

OR is it just that you don't need to escape your own head/life. It's an interesting topic x

It is. I still do aspire to fiction, it's what I started my writing with back at uni. Just a matter of finding the time.

Such well chosen words, elegantly used. Moved by your instinctive reaction to the nursery's comment on your son, which would have sounded innocuous to someone else but truly worrying to anyone who knows their child innately.

I have located a juniper tree, the variety of which I don’t believe is poisonous, as there seems to be conflicting opinion about this between myself and a colleague. I am today going to saw myself a branch. I shall let it dry for a few months then all should be ready by autumn I hope. I am more excited about this than the annoying amount of cider vinegar I tasked myself to prepare last year that is currently half way through its process.

Ah, good point Will. No mention of Juniper type in my book but maybe worth mentioning we only get common Juniper in Finland.

“I have been checking my vinegar daily. I really don’t have the patience for this kind of project.”

Cooking is so much like raising children and your beautiful post made me realize this. It’s why we love both. And the teacher’s description of your son made me remember those years when my younger son was in school…some children aren’t cut out for the square mold most schools are. With parents like the two of you are, Sam will be all right.
