Thanks so much, really appreciate that, especially for these more considered pieces I occasionally share (sorry for delay in response, have been a little unwell recently)
Well remembered. Maybe its good luck (in a manner of thinking) but my illness coincided with my knee picking up a bit of an injury. But after my enforced break from running its all feeling better now and training has resumed.
This brought a little saltwater prickle to the eyes. I used to visit my great-grandparents’ grave in Germany, together with my great aunt. We would travel on the bus, carrying a bucket, scrubbing brush and polishing cloth. It’s been 15 years since I last did that. My great aunt has passed, and I’m not sure where I could borrow a scrubbing brush but I’m going to have to make that pilgrimage again. Though probably not in the northern mid-winter, as that’s peak bushfire season at home.
(And yes to living in the present moment, it’s really all we can be sure of….)
That is so kind of you, goodness I'm lucky to have such kind people like you reading, Penelope (and, one thing, sorry for delay in response, have been a little unwell recently)
Thank you Wil for the many lessons I hope to learn and keep from this weeks newsletter. We live in such scary times here in the United States, and I constantly dread what awful things await us in coming days. I'll try to do better.
This was one of my favourite reads in a long time.

I hope you were able to get your run training in somewhat - feel better

Wil, thank you for writing so honestly and beautifully. This is one of the best things I’ve ever read on Substack.
