Clifton Fadimon said that “a foreign country is not designed to make you comfortable. It is designed to make its own people comfortable.”

What an excellent quote!

"If you’ve never had a hot sausage during your sauna then you’re in for a treat."

That is a loaded sentence! 🫣

Jokes aside, this is a lovely piece, Wil. The notion of seeing things with fresh eyes is inspiring.

With a batch of cardamon buns ready for the oven, things are dandy! My son roasted his first chicken last weekend & loved the ease of the “Wil Reidie method”.

I always loved going to the sauna in my years in Helsinki - one of the highlights of life there, truly

I have to say I was not much for the slapping birch branches thingy. A bridge too far, that. But everything else about sauna, absolutely loved it.

My fave sauna was the old public one, Kotiharjun

You know how much of a David Mitchell fan I am . During a conversation about saunas and how Angela Merkel always wore a bathing suit in a sauna the guest comedians discussed this and asked David what his view point was. He admitted to wearing his trunks . He was asked why ? it’s not as if it’s not warm in there . To this he replied “it has nothing to do with being warm , it was to do with not wanting people to see his penis and testicles” it made me laugh 🤭
